Bichig runs down the page and its columns run from left to right, so a dialogue box fills column by column. Walk with the arrow keys or the buttons, or leave it and the hero walks on alone.
Set at whole multiples of 16 pixels, it stays sharp at every size.
Every letter is built from a few strokes: a tooth, a bow, a loop, a tail. Each stroke is one pixel thick, and all of them meet on one column, the spine, shown here in red.
A letter of bichig changes with its place in the word and with its neighbours. The font follows the current Unicode model, and has a drawing of its own for each join that needs one.
b + l + aAfter b, the horn of l stands clear of the bow.a + b + mB and a final m are one drawing: the bow runs on as the tail of m.a + m + l + aM is written whole, and the horn of l rises beside its own.a + n + · + aBefore a separated suffix, final n keeps its dot and the a tucks under it.a + sh + l + aThe two dots of sh stand clear of the horn that rises after them.e + g + m + eG joins m: the bow turns outward and comes down as the horn.Pick a size and a colour.
Each letter as it stands alone, then the digits and the marks.
